Assistant Houseparent

**CORE PURPOSE**
Assistant Houseparents share the responsibility for the boarding pupils’ physical, emotional and social well-being. Assistant Houseparents should have a genuine interest in the personal development of young people and be dedicated to outstanding pastoral care. They will assist with the operation and smooth running of the boarding house and help with the supervision of Gap students (Gappers).
**KEY TASKS**
- Ensure all dormitories are well laid out and presented;
- Supervise washroom and bedtimes;
- Ensure that information is disseminated to boarders through notices at supper;
- Ensure pupils’ rooms are neat and tidy and there are no sweets, money, medication or other valuables in the room in accordance with boarding policy;
- Give guidance and support to Gappers;
- Help in the laundry and dispensary;
- Administer first aid;
- Undertake laundry duties, including washing and drying of children’s home clothes and uniform;
- Actively promote boarding and make sure it has a high profile;
- Liaise with the Head of Boarding over academic and pastoral matters regarding individual boarders;
- Meet weekly with the Head of Boarding;
- Ensure that dispensary and handover books are updated regularly;
- Undertake boarding administrative duties.
**HOURS AND SALARY**
5.00pm-9.00pm on chosen evenings as well as weekend hours which will be discussed and agreed at interview. Duty hours are paid at a rate commensurate with age and experience.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £11.50-£12.50 per hour
Expected hours: 8 - 20 per week
