**Job Overview**:
Bader College, located at historic Herstmonceux Castle, East Sussex, is the overseas campus of Queen’s University, Canada. The campus occupies a 600-acre estate, including a range of academic, residential, and recreational facilities. Our wholly owned trading subsidiary, Herstmonceux Castle Estates Limited (HCE), is responsible for running the gardens and grounds, corporate events, and other functions.

The Finance Team, is required to maintain a close working relationship with Queens University given the complexity of the financial requirements needed to maintain the establishment, and ensuring that everything is being done to be as profitable as possible, ensuring that our suppliers and agreements are value for money, ever mindful that we are a charity.

The Finance Team will consist of:
1 Finance Manager (1FTE)

1 Finance Assistant (0.6 FTE)

**Working hours**: flexible working hours available - 3 days a week (21 hrs)

Days must overlap with the Finance Manager to ensure a productive and effective team

**Salary**: £15,244 plus employment benefits

*6.6 weeks annual leave, which includes bank holidays, Christmas closure dates, Government pension, Death in Service Benefit, and a Health Cash plan upon joining.

After completing the required probation, and length of service, paid sickness and Group life and Ill health benefits.

Undertaking a wide range of finance duties including Purchase and Sales ledger processing, reconciling bank transactions and monitoring of petty cash floats. The post holder will also support the Finance Manager with the production of monthly management accounts to include month end journal postings and calculation of accruals and prepayments.

**Duties**:

- Maintain purchase ledger and sales ledger.
- Review purchase invoices received and query any anomalies with suppliers.
- Prepare payment runs for approval, and set payments up on the bank.
- Input bank and credit card transactions into accounting software.
- Post month end journals.
- Reconcile accounting system.
- Assist with the preparation of the quarterly VAT Return.
- Prepare management accounts.
- Assist with the audit process gathering any information required by the auditor.
- Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts.
- Liaise with other departments, and assist other staff members on finance related queries.
- Other ad hoc duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- Pass in GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent qualification)

- Ability to plan and organise the working day to maximise time effectively and efficiently.
- Computer literacy and experience in maintaining accurate records.

**Knowledge and experience**
- Experience of sales ledger, purchase ledger and reconciling bank accounts.
- Experience of preparing month end journals, calculating accruals and prepayments.
- Excellent Excel and other Microsoft office skills.
- Experience of working with payroll data.
- Previous experience of using Sage 50 accounts.
- Posting month end journals
