**What’s the role all about?**

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Safety Manager** to join our SHE team, based on our construction site at the **Port of Rotterdam, Netherlands.**Providing professional advice and support in relation to Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management to our construction team so that a consistent approach is maintained in line with the companyethos. All incidents/near hits are effectively managed, reported and investigated using root cause analysis in line with company procedures.

As our **Safety Manager**you will be involved in:

- Supporting the Company SHE Director/ Manager with the creation, delivery and monitoring of SHE plans which underpin the SHE strategy and supports the achievement of our operational objectives.
- Participating in the development of the management system and participate in projects to improve the level of its effectiveness.
- Building and developing effective, collaborative working relationships with the operational leadership and managements teams in order to positively influence their SHE capabilities.
- Working with the operational leadership and management teams on site to improve our safety culture, and to develop a motivational and rewarding working environment
- Championing the use of the SHE management system throughout the Company and ensure the quality of
- information contained is as required.
- Delivering SHE KPIs and report monthly on progress. Where areas of non-conformance or areas for improvement are identified ensure that these are raised and escalated as necessary to gain compliance and improvement.
- Driving the delivery of SHE excellence across the operational areas they are responsible for: Support other Advisors in monitoring SHE compliance levels and fostering the relationship between the operational teams and the SHE team to ensure continuous improvementand regular reviews of contract and external customer’s needs.
- Supporting and encouraging positive employee engagement and communication processes at all levels.
- Building constructive working relationships with client and union representatives as required.
- Supporting SHE initiatives and projects outside of assigned areas of responsibility as allocated by the H&S
- Director/Manager.

**What are we looking for?**
- Technical diploma with a reasonable level of heavy industry experience
- VCA Qualification.
- NEBOSH General and/or NEBOSH Construction. Equivalent Health and Safety Qualification with a
- minimum of Tech IOSH membership.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of local legislation.
- Hold qualifications to a minimum of level 3 in Environment, preferably with PIEMA Membership (preferred).
- Hold a recognised incident investigator qualification (Preferred not essential).
- Hold a recognised internal auditor qualification. (Preferred not essential)
- Demonstrable experience of the maintenance of management systems to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing.
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office Applications, (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Have experience of Structural Steel (preferred) activities and heavy construction e.g. Petrochemical, offshore, nuclear, etc.
- Be used to a site-based role.
- Be an effective leader with the ability to work within a team.
- Be flexible and adaptable to situations as and when they arise.
- Able to work on their own initiative without direct supervision.
- Be able to deliver to set targets and objectives
- Maintain their own competencies through CPD processes
