Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Would you like to develop your career in a large specialist acute teaching hospital? We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our team delivering high quality care at Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust-Aintree site.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for adult acquired communication and swallow impairments. This post would suit a newly qualified therapist with an enthusiasm to develop their career in an acute and rehab setting.

You will be working as part of a friendly, dynamic and supportive Speech and Language Therapy team who are committed to delivering high quality, patient centred care. The Team provides input to the following areas within the hospital:

- Acute Surgical and medicine
- Critical Care
- Major Trauma Centre
- Ventilation In-patients Centre
- Department of Medicine for Older people and Stroke In-patient Services
- Regional Head and Neck Cancer Unit (in-patients and out-patients)

This post will be rotational across inpatient services but will include opportunities to gain dysphagia experience on our acute surgical and medical wards. The post offers excellent opportunities to develop and acquire a wide range of essential skills and experience in acquired communication and swallowing impairments. The post will be based mainly at our Aintree site but may require cross site working in the future.

You will work as part of a fully integrated Multi-Disciplinary Team alongside speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians and therapy assistants and will have the opportunity to work within our specialist centres including Major trauma and the newly formed North Mersey Stroke service.

There will be development and training opportunities including completion of dysphagia competency based training and external courses with access to regular peer and senior supervision.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
