Category Assistant

Howdens Joinery are looking for a Category Assistant to join our busy Category Buying team at our new site based in Raunds, Northamptonshire. The position offers an opportunity to support the Category for sinks and taps to source and deliver a market leading range of products, enabling growth and profitability while providing a value-added service to our Depots.

Reporting to the Category Buyer, you will be assisting in the management of an assigned range of products with the specification, pricing and launch / product support to the depot network. As you’ll be operating as part of a busy team, it’s essential that you have a flexible and adaptable attitude towards work and are a true team player.

As a Category Assistant, you will be working on multiple projects with differing deadlines, so you will need to be an excellent communicator who enjoys problem solving and can prioritise effectively. You will also need to possess strong administrative and data entry skills with absolute accuracy and attention to detail in mind.

**Key skills and experience required**:

- Previous Category experience desirable
- Able to work within a fast-paced commercial environment
- An understanding of Key Data Systems and analysis
- Experience of Project Management
- Organised and able to multi-task and maintain accuracy
- Adept at managing multiple projects at any one time
- Ability to effectively communicate at any level
- Accuracy of data entry with acute attention to detail
- Self-starter and a team player who understands the importance of supporting the depots
- A flexible attitude
