**Assistant Gardener Job Description**

Location: Newmilns

Contract/recruitment type: Fixed Term - 6 month contract

Rate of pay: £10.50 per hour during one month probation period, increasing to £11.00 per hour. Reviwed on regular basis.

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity to join our up-and-coming and evergrowing gardening business.

Joining Longair’s Lawn Care & Garden Services, you'll help ensure our client’s gardens are maintained to the highest of standards.

From regular mowing, edging and renovation, you’ll have a passion for lawn care. You will also maintain shrubs, herbaceous and rose borders whilst monitoring and nurturing the health of plants, and young trees. Occassionally you'll plant new shrubbery, bulbs and seasonal flower displays.

About you

Passion for garden care, along with relevant experience and a good working knowledge of plants and turf care is essential.

A full UK driving license is also essential.

Self-discipline and time management skills are vital. You will have to be able to work well as part of a team as well as being able to work well on your own inititive when required. You'll have the skills to communicate with a range of people.

And overall, in all that you do, you'll take great pride in your work and will be motivated to present gardens to exceptional standards.

Day-to-day tasks

On a typical day you may:

- cut and strim grass
- rake and blow grass clippings, leaves, etc.
- dig, plant and weed flower beds and borders
- tidy overgrown shrubs and trees
- clean equipment like lawn mowers and hedge trimmers

Working environment

You will typically work in clients’ home gardens or in gardens belonging to commercial properties.

Your working environment will be outdoors in all weathers and may be at height.

You may need to wear protective clothing.

All tools and machinery will be provided.
