Leicester, United Kingdom East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust Full time

East Midlands Ambulance NHS Trust is pleased to advertise more new opportunities for the Ambulance Support Crew (ASC) role at our Trust. Our Ambulance Support Crew (ASC) is an operational ambulance role that responds to patients accessing EMAS with emergency and urgent care needs.

Are you looking for a new challenge?

As an ASC, you will work with other support staff and clinicians to respond to patients and deliver/support care and/or transportation to other services. Some calls will be emergencies, and you will be developed to respond to patients under emergency driving conditions.

ASCs are required to work across a range of shifts including days, nights, weekends and public holidays.

EMAS are committed to providing outstanding patient care. You must be a motivated and committed person to delivering outstanding care. Your personal values should align to the EMAS values of respect, integrity, contribution, teamwork and competence.

You must be willing to advocate for people and be person-centric in your care, demonstrating excellent communication skills, empathy and effective teamwork. Additionally, you must promote equality, diversity and inclusion in your everyday work.

As ASC, you will attend a wide range of emergency and urgent care calls, with some being life-threatening, serious and/or emotionally/psychologically challenging. EMAS have a wide range of support for staff, and you must embrace such support and be committed towards developing your professional resilience within the role.

Ideally you will have NHS and/or patient care experience within a Health and Social Care role. This may extend to voluntary roles, including community response or voluntary ambulance services. Alternatively, you may have been in a customer-facing role, with experience of dealing with complex or challenging situations and achieving good outcomes with people and colleagues.

Education and Development

Upon employment, ASCs will undertake the First Response Emergency Care Courses at Levels 3 & 4 and the Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (CERAD). These will require attendance at an EMAS Education Centre and contain a range of teaching, learning and formal assessments. ASCs will require a full manual driving licence (with no more than 3 points) and the C1 category on the driving licence.

Functional Skills

The ASC role requires you to have good applied numeracy and literacy. The role will require you to use technology such as electronic patient report forms and to document the care provided. During your education period, you will produce workbooks, undertake written and practical assessments and engage in face-to-face and online learning.

**Selection process**:
**The selection process will consist of the following**:

- Shortlisting will take place w/c 7th August 2023.
- Interview Stage w/c 21st August 2023 onwards.
