Apprentice Greenkeeper

Apprentice greenkeeper role to work alongside 3 full time members of staff learning all aspects of golf course maintenance as part of the The Golf Greenkeeper Standard.

The apprenticeship comprises of 10 core topic areas which will cover both knowledge and skills:

- Health and safety
- Plant and grass identification
- Identification and control of weeds, pests, diseases and turf disorders
- Plant and soil science
- Turf maintenance
- Plant nutrition
- Machinery operation and maintenance
- Environment and ecology
- Irrigation and drainage
- Course rules and etiquette

- Good time-keeping
- Keenness to learn

**Desired qualifications**
- GCSE’s, or equivalents in maths and English are desired but not essential
- Applicant must not already hold a Level 2 or higher in Horticulture.

**Future Progression**
- Possibility of a employment if a suitable role is available.

**Training Provided**
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Horticulture and Landscape Operative Apprenticeship.
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
- You will also need to achieve Level 3 award in Emergency First Aid at Work and Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides Guidance or Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides before undertaking the End Point Assessment.

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
