Gorse Hill Studios (GHSCC) is an ambitious youth arts charity, who believe all young people have the right to social, emotional, educational and cultural investment in their future. **About the role**:
As a STEP Coordinator, you will be overseeing the day-to-day running and STEP programme development. Alongside the STEP team, an Arts based programme of activities/Sessions which will enable young people to develop their creativity, confidence, self-esteem and interpersonal skills.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Work with the STEP Manager to structure alternative creative education programmes/timetables.
- Provide an intensive mentoring role focused on addressing barriers to learning for young people to enable them to achieve their full potential.
- Provide a safe, calm and structured creative learning environment for students ensuring that designated work is completed by students.
- Plan and deliver lessons for young people at all levels including SEN.
- Support the Chief Officer to ensure the organisation is developing to its full potential.
- Ensure that GHSCC’s Safeguarding Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities policies are always adhered to. Ensure that all staff are made aware of and adhere to these policies.
- To liaise with all education partners in order to nurture, sustain and develop relationships both existing and new.
- Attending meetings regarding young people and their progression, safeguarding and more.
- Oversee all monitoring and reporting for individuals and the programme as a whole including attainment levels, monitoring and reporting.

**Teaching and Learning**
- Manage staff to implement strategies to ensure learning.
- Oversee the operational delivery of the programme including initial contact forms, session logs, report writing, setting learning objectives, outcomes and organising excursions.
- Deliver exceptional sessions that meet individual needs and inspire interest.
- Teach small groups and individuals as required.
- Meet prospective young people and referrers and undertake consultations.

**Experience and skills**:

- Youth Work Qualification or experience
- Minimum one year’s experience working with young people, preferably in an alternative school or education setting.
- Safeguarding training
- Understanding of young people who present SEND, with a commitment to inclusive learning and raising the attainment of young people.
- Knowledge of the principles involved in the provision of advice and guidance to young people including confidentiality and information sharing.
