Development Technologist - Bakery
Based in Carlton with some travel to other sites

**Purpose**:
We’re delighted to offer the opportunity for an experienced Development Technologist to join our site team at Carlton - the home of Mr Kipling You will be responsible for the development of new products, from idea to implementation - to include bench scale, scale up to pilot/factory - and full factory trials/implementation.

As a New Product Development Technologist in Sweet Treats, you will be working on one of the nation’s favorite brands, Mr Kipling in addition to Customer Brands too. You will help to support and drive our Innovation launch plans. You will be joining a team responsible for developing exciting and delicious cakes, after all, we are the home of the Cherry Bakewell, Fondant Fancies, Battenberg and Angel Slices to name just a few

You will be involved in every stage of the process, from concept to launch developing new products and improving the quality of existing products.
You will have hands on experience in the development test bakery and in scaling products up onto factory equipment. You will develop an understanding of the functionality of the ingredients which go into our cakes and have opportunities to work directly with our suppliers.

**What you'll be doing**:
To deliver new and existing product development for the related product area.
Lead test bakery and factory trials with operations, process and site technical teams at relevant sites. Liaise with all site functions to progress projects.
Progress all aspects of document control and process relating to project.
To work with marketing and the consumers to develop ideas and shape projects.
Monitor current trends and consumer food behaviors.
To work with the Sensory and Marketing contacts to set bench marks.
Understand the ingredients relating to specific products and work with suppliers.
Maintain contact with internal central teams e.g regulatory, nutrition to ensure issues are assessed and acted upon accordingly.
Manage the link to the technical support function at all sites of manufacture (internal and co-manufacture) to ensure efficient delivery of project.
Present concepts within Premier and externally to Customers as need arises

**What we need from you**:
Experienced Development Technologist
HNC Food Science/Technology, BTEC Food Science
BSc Food Science/Technology or related degree, Intermediate Food Hygiene (preferred)
Baking experience preferred
Passionate about the challenge of product development
Genuine interest in food and food trends

An Innovative thinker, hungry to develop their skills

Comfortable working as part of a team and independently

Strong organisational skills

A flair for baking & creative cooking

An ability and desire to work across office, test bakery and production environments
