Sound good? We’re looking for a Field Automation Specialist to join our team covering the Edinburgh, Lothians and Borders area, on a permanent basis.

What you’ll do

As a Field Automation Specialist, you will provide day to day developmental,

technical and operational support for Instrumentation, Control, Intelligent

Control, Automation and Telemetry systems ensuring that the business needs

of Scottish Water are always met. This is a field-based role supporting

Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants and Pumping Stations, Telemetry

Sites etc. throughout the West and Central belt.

Key accountabilities/ tasks- Capturing business needs and develop systems to best suit the business in the
- effective operation and support of telemetry systems encompassing outstation
- configuration and top end assistance, along with internal system configuration.- Monitoring and maintaining communications media and provide out of hours
- support as required, providing operational and technical support for telemetry
- systems.- Administering software updates and hardware upgrades to
- meet business requirements with the minimum of disruption to live systems.
- Providing development and maintenance support for PLC, IMCC, SCADA and
- DCS systems, to maintain the software library and update change control log.- You will repair, maintain, and calibrate field instrumentation and associated
- equipment used in process control.- gathered by the telemetry data, participating in continuous improvement
- teams to expedite Field Automation matters timeously.- Provide reports to highlight maintenance, data quality and calibration issues,
- supporting other E&M team members dealing with Field Automation
- problems.- Configure and support the day to day requirements of users regarding
- functionality and accessibility within the telemetry/ PLC/IMCC/ SCADA
- systems.

Essential Skills- All applicants to have served a full apprenticeship.- HNC or NC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.- Significant specialist and technical knowledge of systems and processes such as configuration and modification of servers, workstations, telemetry outstations, PLCs, IMCC and SCADA systems- Experience in calibration of instrumentation- Experience in process controllers- Understanding of the internal structure of databases and how to extract relevant data- The ability to problem-solve using your own initiative and as part of a team.- Ability to make decisions based on analysis of information within a very fast paced, customer focused environment.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.- Working knowledge of MS Office suite including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint- A full current driving licence is essential for this role- Participation in an out of hours emergency standby rota- Strong Health and safety culture

Desirable Skills- Knowledge and understanding of water/wastewater processes- A customer-oriented person who sustains performance by continuous improvement- Applicants to be 17th/18th Edition trained

The not-so-small print

The salary range for this position is £31,380 - £43,350 depending on skills and experience.

All new Scottish Water employees are required to complete pre-employment security checks before they can start work.
