Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield City Council Full time

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Asset Policy Officer to join the Asset Management and Programme Works Team in the Housing and Neighbourhood Service.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop the strategic approach to investment in the Council’s housing stock, including the crucial development and production of an Asset Management Strategy. The role also involves developing policy relating to business planning, stock condition surveying and retrofit of the housing stock as well as the regular review of our strategy and approach.

We are looking for someone with an understanding of developing policy and a project background; or a housing professional who is looking to develop strategy and policy skills. You will need experience of successfully managing a workload with multiple priorities and have a track record of project management and delivery. An understanding of the asset management of buildings is desirable.

This role will require you to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also need to be able to work on your own initiative to develop policy and strategy documents alongside supporting procedures and guidance notes. We are seeking applicants who can communicate and work in partnership with partners and colleagues via different methods, including producing briefing notes and reports and writing and delivering presentations.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.

Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
