The HSSEQ team at Calor Gas are looking to recruit an engaging and proactive Filling Plant HSSEQ Advisor for our facility at Lee Mill - Ivybridge Devon
Additionally, to provide HSSEQ advice & coaching to all on site to help build an interdependent safety culture.
**Key responsibilities will include**:
- To provide HSSEQ support for the site to help maintain and develop a safety first and right first-time quality culture, with particular emphasis on regularly inspecting and auditing the operations to ensure service demands do not detract from compliance with safety, security, health, environmental and quality policies.
- Coach key site leaders and visitors in displaying “visible felt leadership” behaviours for others, and by taking personal ownership for safety, to support the deployment of a cultural change programme at the site level.
- Responsible for ensuring the site accurately records all reported hazards, near misses and incidents and that they are investigated in accordance with procedure HS-Q-06 to ensure all such events are known and any learnings are identified and implemented.
- Responsible for ensuring the site has an adequate level of emergency preparedness (as defined by HS-P-22), by ensuring the site has up to date and regularly tested internal and external emergency plans in accordance with HS-Q-21 and 37 and it has ‘available on demand’ emergency equipment to keep its emergency preparedness PSPI in the green.
- Support local emergency/COMAH site planning committees and ensure Public Information Zone communications are up to date.
- Responsible for ensuring that the site maintains adequate safe systems of work (as defined by HS-P-22), by ensuring:
- Suitable work instructions, jogger boards are available for routine tasks.
- Risk assessments and method statements are prepared for non-routine tasks.
- Permit to work procedure HS-Q-15 and isolation policy HS-P-14 are applied; and
- all people carrying out tasks have been trained and are competent to do so.
- Ensure the site controls contractors working on site in accordance with HS-Q-11 to ensure they are competent and compliant for the work in question, familiar with site rules and capable of carrying out their work in a safe manner. This is undertaken by ensuring that all levels of staff are adequately trained.
- Ensure the site controls visitors to the site in accordance with HS-Q-35 to ensure their own and the safety of others is maintained.
- Ensure that the site completes HSSEQ related tasks and returns HSSEQ information in a timely and accurate manner to enable the publication of HSSEQ reports.
- To check all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable quality standards, in particular those relating to filling and maintenance of cylinders to ensure good quality cylinders that have been safely filled and checked are despatched.
- Assist site leader in the preparation for, hosting of and follow up from external regulator or insurance inspector visits, especially Competent Authorities (HSE, EA, local authority etc).
- Responsible for ensuring the site in maintaining its UKAS Accreditation as an inspection body by ensuring the necessary procedures, operator training and materials are in place.
- Responsible for ensuring the site has adequately assessed and is controlling the occupational health risks to its staff with particular attention to hearing; hand, arm and whole-body vibration; contact dermatitis; and the control of substances hazardous to health.
- Assist the site with training and communication of HSSEQ of its staff, in particular induction training for new starters, refresher training to existing staff members and the delivery of toolbox talks and other HSSEQ communications.
- Complete periodic audits of compliance with procedures for high compliance & risk tasks across the site activities (eg linked to Calor Life Saving Rules) to ensure competency in role maintained.
- Ensure regular physical site walkarounds across all work locations to hazard spot unsafe conditions and behaviours, as well as recognise positive aspects of HSSEQ by the team.
- Take an active role in coordinating the Site Safety Meetings across departments and in the development of workforce engagement through coaching safety representatives.
- Assist the site in the prioritisation and close out of all HSSEQ actions (from all internal and external sources as logged in Sphera) to manage risks down.

- NEBOSH Diploma (or other level 6 relevant qualification)
