Monday
- Friday 9 am - 5.30 pm OR 5.30 pm - 9 am

Saturday -Sunday 9 am - 5.30 pm OR 5.30 pm - 9 am

(Please note we do not pay for the hours you will be sleeping - 7 hours)

**Role Specification**

Supporting the placement manager in providing a level of leadership and management, and working collaboratively with them to provide consistency to the person being supported.

Providing whatever help and encouragement is required by the service users to take control of their lives. It is likely that to achieve this, the person receiving support will require support from a number of different people, including friends, family, and professionals. It will therefore be necessary for the senior key worker to respect and work cooperatively with others, enabling the service userto live in the home within the local community, based on their individual preferences/needs

**Main Responsibilities**

The key worker’s role is essential to the well-being of the person we support and to the team of people employed to support them, and is dependent on collaborative work with the placement manager and a tight joint-management approach, whilst also supporting the team to develop their own leadership skills to encourage autonomy.

It is a role of providing both practical support and leadership and management in collaboration with the director, to a small number of people. The role expects a good degree of initiative, enthusiasm, and responsibility from the post holder.

Supporting the service user on a regular basis in their everyday life.

Ensuring that the service user is empowered at every reasonable opportunity to make decisions and take control over their life unless this is clearly detrimental to them.

Assisting the placement manager in implementing necessary individual policies around each service user

Ensuring that the service user is able to move their life forward looking for real community connections, friends, hobbies, interests, and work, and being creative and challenging about the support provided.

Being creative in involving the service userin meetings, assisting them to remain at the centre of the meeting.

Ensuring that all applicable EAJigsaw Care policies are followed.

Taking a lead responsibility for ensuring that the service user’sphysical and mental well-being is considered and prioritised, taking appropriate action when necessary.

It is the responsibility of all staff to ensure that any concerns regarding the service userare brought to the attention of the placement manager i.e. concerns regarding the individual’s support, care or welfare, finances or vulnerability. Any person raising concerns around these issues will be fully supported by the organisation and will receive any assistance that they require to enable them to come forward on behalf of the individual.

Ensuring that medication is handled, administered, recorded, and stored in accordance with EAJigsaw Care’s policies and procedures.

Assisting the service user in maintaining and developing a range of relationships within the community, including friends, neighbours, and other social contacts.

Working with the service user to help them cope with their feelings and relationships, assisting them in managing the practicalities of daily living and in accessing other support systems in the community.

Helping the service userwith all areas of budgeting ensuring that their financial obligations are met.

Treating the service user**, **at all times, as an individual, recognising their rights to dignity, individuality, sexual preference, love, friendship, and respect, as well as the right to make their own choices.

Working with the service userto find and develop employment opportunities, and to support them to secure and sustain employment.

**Communication**

In collaboration with the placement manager, ensure that communication is effective between all of the people involved in supporting the service user**.**

**Staff Development**

Assisting the placement manager by developing a sense of teamwork, through teambuilding in regular team meetings.

Being consistent in your approach to the management of the team and the service and working towards the vision of being self-directed. You will need to be a role model to the team show motivation for this kind of work and be able to inspire others.

Ensuring that the team understands and works within the values of EAJigsaw Care

Being fully committed to social justice, equality of opportunity, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination.
