Metalwork Estimator

BHC is one of the UK’s leading Structural Steel Fabrication and Construction companies, supplying and erecting fabricated steel nationwide within the UK and Ireland. The family run business has continued to grow from strength to strength since its formation in 1992. We are currently seeking to recruit a Metalwork Estimator to join our Structural Steel estimating team. The Metalwork Estimator will be focusing on pricing works for balustrades, Stairs, balconies, handrails, and other types of metal works in the construction industry. This is a critical role and requires an in-depth understanding of metalwork processes, materials, and industry standards.

**Your Key Activities will include but not limited to: -**
- Accurately estimate the cost of labour, plant and materials required for various Metalwork Projects.
- Examine incoming tenders and review scope of work, risks, and contract potential,
- Collaborating with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
- Sourcing pre-project information and analysing sub-contractor quotations, agreements & enquiries.
- Identify cost saving opportunities and proposing alternative solutions without compromising quality.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project estimates align with project goals.
- Quantity take-offs from drawings using 3D modelling software or hand take offs,
- Input data entry onto estimating software.
- Build up tender price from first principles based on the scope of works, plans, specification, and programme,
- Producing Bills of Quantities
- Produce tender report in preparation for tender adjudication.
- Creating comprehensive proposal including detailed supporting documentation.
- Present your offer to clients,
- Attend pre & post contract interviews, client meetings etc.
- Collect and distribute feedback.
- Maintain awareness of latest techniques.
- Assist in developing skill set within the Department.

**Required Experience Your Qualifications and Experience should be**:

- A strong understanding of Metalwork, and proven experience in Metalwork estimating.
- A team player who is a confident communicator with all members of staff.
- You must have excellent interpersonal skills; maintain good working relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers and have a personable character.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to adhere to strict deadlines on a daily & weekly basis.
- Microsoft office proficient.

Job Location - Carnwath with some site visits.
