The organisation is looking for a Residential Care & Environment Worker to join a Children’s Home in Taunton, in a supportive role which is integral to the running of the home, and one of importance.

This role of Residential Care & Environment Worker is Part-Time 19.5 hours per week.

In this role you will be ensuring all annual checks take place on time and records are kept and actions followed to include (not exhaustively) PAT, COSHH, Food Standards, Environmental Health, Gas, Electrical, Legionella and Asbestos.

The Residential Care & Environment Worker role will see you consulting with the children in respect of their food and nutrition, doing the food shopping and helping the children cook some of their meals. You will be supporting the children with their choicefor their personal space and bedrooms and developing decoration plans which help the children express their identity.

We are looking for someone who can cook, clean, garden, paint, have some minor DIY experience, maintain and consistently seek to improve the standards of the home environment through quality management of all furniture, aesthetics, soft furnishings, electricaland white goods and maintaining accurate and up to date records, ensuring insurances and guarantees are followed.

The Residential Care & Environment Worker will need to be child centred, have a can-do attitude, be able to engage, communicate and listen to the children, be alert to signs of distress or abuse and ensure that the children are always monitored and protected.You will need to be calm and professional across a variety of situations, take part in team meetings and regularly provide views and ways to improve current practice.

**Person Specification**:

- GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above or equivalent
- QCF level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People’s Workforce) or equivalent (Desirable)
- Have good IT skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to communicate with Children
- Excellent time management skills in order to complete reports and task within the set deadlines
- Emotional awareness in both self and others
- Ability to listen and empathise
- Be calm in situations of crisis and follow the lead of the shift leader
