Vauxhall, United Kingdom Morgan Law Full time

Morgan Law is delighted to be partnering with Marie Curie, supporting them to recruit a Head of Public Affairs.

About Marie Curie

We are the UK’s leading end of life charity. We provide hands-on nursing and hospice care, a free support line and a wealth of information and support on all aspects of dying, death and bereavement. Our research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end of life, and we campaign tirelessly for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with a terminal illness.

Demand for the right care and support for people at the end of their lives is growing, fast. As more of us live longer, with more complex health conditions, pressure on health and social care services is increasing. Over the next 25 years, the number of people aged 85 and older is set to almost double in the UK.

Without radical change more people will die without the care they need. We know that our work - to support everyone in the UK through all aspects of dying and bereavement - is more urgent than ever.

About the role

For over 70 years Marie Curie has worked to deliver a better end of life experience for everyone. A key part of that mission means lobbying for the changes needed from national and local decision makers in order to improve those experiences.

The Policy and Research Directorate at Marie Curie is in the Chief Executive’s Office, and brings together our policy, public affairs and research work in order to maximise impact.

As the Head of Public Affairs, you will be responsible for taking forward the charity’s mission and objectives, to develop and influence policy across the UK.

The Head of Public Affairs, England is a crucial role in the team - leading Marie Curie’s work to engage public policy decision makers in England, at both a national and local level. This includes the UK Parliament and UK Government, as well as councils and health commissioners across England.

What we look for
- Knowledge of health and social care policy issues at national levels across England is an absolute must.
- Demonstratable success in campaigning and lobbying work on social justice, at either a parliamentary or local level.
- Track record of successful relationship management of senior policy decision makers.

What we offer
- Salary: £54,680 - £60,746.
- Permanent role.
- 33 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays).
- Marie Curie Group Personal Pension Scheme (the charity will match your contribution up to 7.5%)
- New state of the art office in One Embassy Gardens (fantastic location next to the river & 10 minutes from Vauxhall).
- Flexible hybrid working pattern.
- It’s preferable the role incumbent can travel into London easily because of the amount of lobbying work required. Though they will have full autonomy to decide how often they work from home vs in the new office. Loan schemes for bikes; computers and season tickets.
- Continuous professional development opportunities.
- Industry leading training programmes.
- Well-being and Employee Assistance Programmes.
- Enhanced bereavement, family friendly and sickness benefits.
- Access to Blue Light Card membership.
- Subsidised Eye Care.

Recruitment timetable
- In person interviews and presentation weeks commencing 1st Sept/8th Sept.
