Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology

We are a small welcoming team of Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists in the Scottish Borders. We value learning and development and regularly host Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement. We provide a highly specialist psychology service across NHS Borders, to adults predominantly aged 65 and over. We work across a variety of settings and services including community mental health teams and specialist care home/community hospitals. We provide specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based theraputic interventions for older people with complex mental health difficulties and/or distressed behaviours relating to, or co-morbid with, a diagnosis of dementia, in addition to providing neuropsychological assessments to aid differential diagnosis.

The successful applicant will assist in providing a range of mental health assessments and evidence-based psychological and psychosocial interventions in collaboration with other psychologists to our population aged over 65 years as well as support and training to wider staff groups. This post would provide excellent opportunities for professional and specialist skill development across a diverse clinical population. Full support and training will be provided for appropriate skill development in different therapeutic modalities and approaches. The postholder will work closely with clinical psychologists in the service, and would be provided with supervision and mentoring from senior staff within the department, as required.
