NETHER GREEN JUNIOR AFTER SCHOOL CLUB - Breakfast Club Deputy

Mon to Friday. 7.10-8.45am. 8 hours a week.

All school holidays off.

**Person Specification**

Essential for the post
- An understanding of good quality childcare in an out of school club, including health and safety
- An understanding of play and its importance
- A commitment to equal opportunities
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Good written and spoken English
- Experience of working with 7-11 year olds
- Ability to meet children’s individual needs, including behaviour management
- Ability to use judgement and common sense
- Ability to work as part of a team and be a source of knowledge and support for others.
- To lead the team
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Be reliable and have good time management skills
- Understanding of safeguarding - will be a Designated Safeguarding Deputy.
- Physically capable of moving light furniture.
- Desirable for the post_
- A current first aid certificate (needed but can be done once employment has started)
- A current clean driving licence
- Some experience of administration

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Responsible to the Manager.

Job purpose: To lead the day to day running and organisation of the morning club.

Job Duties
- Taking part in the day to day administration and record keeping. Ordering and purchasing materials and equipment when required.
- Providing safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities and preparing activities. Organising the programme in deputy’s absence.
- Providing full care for the children until school starts, including providing breakfast
- Organising and assisting with moving of dining hall furniture into the storage area at the end of the session
- Administering first aid as appropriate.
- Close liaison with parents, schools and other childcare and play-related agencies.
- Passing on messages to manager. Attending meetings as appropriate. Liaising with afternoon deputy about changes to afternoon care for the children i.e. cancelled sessions.
- Carrying out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities’ framework
- Working within agreed policies and agreed budget
- Supporting staff. Encouraging the best from the team and being a good role model.
- Ensuring delivery of creative play opportunities in a safe and caring environment.
- Encouraging parental involvement and support of the club.
- Opening the club.
- This role is within a well established team.
- We are advertising this role as a before and after school deputy too, we are ideally seeking someone to do both mornings and afternoons but would consider someone who can only do the morning role._

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: £13.04 per hour
