**Main Purpose and Scope of the Job**

**Reports To**: Technical Manager

We are looking for someone who has great attention to detail and passionate about food. As part of our Food Import Technical department, you will be supporting your colleagues to ensure that products are imported safely and meet the legal and technical requirements of the UK/EU.

You will be responsible for the technical day to day management of vendor accounts, being the internal point of contact for product queries and by providing product data including nutritional, ingredient, allergen and product testing data. It is vital product data is kept up to date for our customers and our own Retail stores, to ensure legal compliance and product safety parameters are met.

You will also be working collaboratively with the Commercial Team and our Purchasing teams with various quality and food safety data requests; in addition you will work with external stakeholders such as suppliers and technical government bodies (e.g. DEFRA, FSA, Port Health and local councils).

**Key Responsibilities**
- Collate technical specifications (product ingredients, allergens risk assessment, nutritional, haccp plans, etc) required by customers for product selection and registration of new products.
- Create and maintain product artwork libraries for retail partners,
- Management of online food product specification systems and provide specification reports on product changes for customers,
- Investigate customer complaints with the support of the Commercial Manager,
- Manage product queries and requests from customers with the support of the Sales and Commercial Teams,
- Support the Retail Support team with product information (shelf life, best before date formats) and quality queries,
- Liaise with external testing laboratories to arrange product testing for customers,
- Liaise with suppliers to gather technical documents e.g. microbiology testing reports, allergen management documentation, nutritional testing reports, finished specifications for customers,
- Participating in HACCP meetings,
- Any other reasonable management request.

**Person Specification**
- The ideal applicant should possess a minimum educational requirement of a Bachelor's degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- Adaptable, ability to prioritise competing demands and delivering to short deadlines,
- Excellent stakeholder management,
- Food Safety level 2 and HACCP training level 2, basic UK/EU labelling training either internally or through an external approved provider,
- Highly IT literate, high level of excel is beneficial including vlookups & pivot tables,
- Food science/manufacturing qualification (desirable).

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
