The Role

The School of Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Hydrology. You will deliver teaching to undergraduate and MSc engineering hydrology students; including digital skills, environmental change, sustainable water management, hydrogeology.

The Water Group has a strong track record of funded collaborative research projects with national and international research partners and industry. Our work cuts across themes and research disciplines in five main areas: climate impacts and adaptation, water management, blue-green cities, flood risk management and high-definition modelling. We have a long-term commitment to field experimentation and engineering interventions at a range of scales.

The School of Engineering strives to provide an outstanding educational experience, rooted in strong engineering disciplines, you will get the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, within a successful and supportive learning environment.

We have invested £110m in a state-of-the-art hub for engineering research and education. The new Stephenson Building complex will co-locate industry partners and provide business and community engagement facilities.

Our school is home to 15 outstanding research groups. The quality of our research is evidenced by the latest REF results. We are ranked 10th for the quality of our research outputs with 46% of outputs assessed as world leading.

We lead on several EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training and are home to the £20M UKRI GCRF Hubs in Water Security and Sustainable Development, and Living Deltas. We have long-standing strategic partnerships, including Siemens Mindsphere lab for digital twinning. We also collaborate with Northumbrian Water, including the BEWISe Facility at their north east treatment plant, which is the first of its type in Europe in large-scale wastewater treatment research using bacteria.
