We are seeking an experienced Project Worker to join our friendly and dedicated team based at The Maples. This role involves working with individuals who are experiencing homelessness or the threat of homelessness, encouraging them to obtain the life skills necessary to move on to more independent living.

The Maples is located within walking distance of the town centre and two parks, Pilton Park and Rotary Gardens in Barnstaple and with easy access to North Devon’s beautiful coastline.

**The role of Project Worker will include**:

- Assessing the needs of our customers by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training, employment and specialist agencies such as debt advice
- Regular key working and support planning to ensure relevant support is provided, encouraging our customers to maximise their level of independence and resolve or prevent their homelessness
- Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
- Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
- Supporting customers to build confidence, resilience and self-esteem
- Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the customers, actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
- Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks and business protocols

**Skills and experiences**:

- Previous experience of working with vulnerable people
- A sound knowledge of housing law, tenancy rights and budgeting
- Ability to work on your own initiative and to react effectively under pressure
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
- NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
