We are currently seeking a Materials Laboratory Technician to join our Forensics Team on a permanent, full-time basis working 37 hours per week. **The Role**
**As a Materials Laboratory Assistant, you will assist in determining the root cause of failure in electrical network components by carrying out materials testing and analysis using techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy, Optical Microscopyand Mechanical Testing.
Assisting in the day-to-day running of the lab, you will prepare samples, perform materials-based tests and compile the results into our standardised reporting format.
Additionally, you will liaise between the Forensic Investigations and Analytical Teams, subcontractors and clients providing superb customer service and ensuring H&S and GLPs are followed. **About You**
**To be considered as a Materials Laboratory Technician, you will need:

- A practical approach to asset condition assessment and testing
- Good analytical, technical, and problem-solving ability, paying close attention to detail
- Knowledge of how test techniques work
- Knowledge of what the findings of the various test techniques show about the material
- The ability to work to deadlines
- The ability to identify risks in handling chemicals and materials
- Excellent IT skills
- A good standard of secondary education including numeracy and literacy
Ideally, you will have significant industrial experience, including working within an academic or industrial materials-based test house for an industrial quality control department.
An HNC, HND or City and Guilds qualification (or equivalent) would also be advantageous.**
