Drug Testing in custody is to be rolled out within Northern and Southern Custody (2 positions available). This is being managed by the Harm Reduction teams. Although your role will be within the custody suite a key part of this position will be to liaise with the Harm Reduction team. Harm Reduction has a number of key functions under its management, including IOM, wanted persons, prison releases, youth justice, missing persons, mental health, licencing and domestic abuse perpetrators.

**Overview of role**

To provide a range of administrative and support services to effectively and efficiently support the operational work of the Custody Suite, Harm Reduction department & Key Partners.

**What will the role involve**
- Conduct drug testing with IOM offenders who come into MEL custody and other trigger related offences. Role will include capturing evidential samples to ensure the Criminal Justice route is followed.
- Ensure onward referrals are made for positive tests in conjunction with colleagues in the recovery partnerships - NRP & NTRP.
- Undertake data input in relation to intelligence ratings into Force computerised systems, ensuring all information is entered in a timely and accurate fashion, in order to meet deadlines.
- Quality assure data input, checking accuracy of information and clarifying anomalies as necessary, in order to ensure information input is accurate.
- Maintain computerised and paper based records, undertaking support and clerical functions required for service provision to the police and members of the public. Manage databases for confidential sources, tracking information throughput, current and past registers and monitor the status drift of the sources.
- Disseminate intelligence and information to Officers In Charge, IOM officers and Harm Reduction Team within the Area Command.
- Provide a range of management information and other statistical information to internal groups and authorised persons in accordance with agreed local procedures in an efficient and timely manner.
- Open and sort all incoming postal and electronic mail via the relevant mailbox, redirecting as appropriate, ensuring that all correspondence is dealt with promptly and efficiently.
- Receive and action telephone enquiries, referring to the relevant police officer within the area command to ensure appropriate service delivery.
