We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic, motivated and passionate Chef de Partie to join our client's team based at this independent boarding school near Canterbury, Kent.
As a day and boarding school, the kitchen caters for approx. 700 pupils plus staff as well as hospitality, fine dining, events and functions. The service consists of breakfast, lunch and supper with approx. 700 covers (including boarders) for lunch Mon - Friand 100 Boarders for breakfast, lunch, supper Mon - Sun.
As the Chef de Partie, you will be working as part of a large team to produce all the food for day to day feeding as well as hospitality. The food is of a high standard and you will be need to be able to cook from scratch using fresh seasonal ingredients.
In addition to core feeding, the catering department provides high scale hospitality for parents' evenings, sports days, Governors dinners, fine dining, events and functions.
Working hours are 5 over 7, 40 hours per week, term time only. There are 3 main working shifts: 6.30am-3pm; 8am-4.30pm and 11am-7.30pm (rota system)
- Be at Chef de Partie or Demi Chef level with a proven work background
- Ideally have worked within B&I, education or a high standard restaurant/hotel kitchen
- Be able to cater for volume on a daily basis
- Be able to work well as a team player
- Be genuinely passionate about food and ingredients
- Have excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and remain calm
- Have the ability to listen to instruction and take direction as needed
- Have an eye for detail and presentation
- Have good communication skills and able to liaise well with colleagues
- Be friendly and flexible with a positive can do attitude
