A fantastic opportunity exists for a conscientious Senior Accounts Assistant to work for a charity that has been established for over 30 years.

You will work in a finance team and support the Management Accountant in the day to day operations of this busy department, who look after over 100 projects across South Wales. The Senior Accounts Assistant links up with many other departments therefore great communication skills are a must. Career development is also actively encouraged, so someone who enjoys widening their skill set would suit this role. This role would suit someone who has already gained some accounting skills and is studying for/has studied AAT.

**The organisation works flexibly with a hybrid approach - there are locations across south Wales and this role can be based out of the Gwent, Cardiff or Swansea office.**
**The job**:

- Management of the accounts receivable ledger, ensuring accurate processing against department budgets, timely debt management and a key point of contact for customers
- Control and process small grant claims
- Process daily bank transactions and reconcile all bank accounts
- Responsible for preparing weekly supplier payment run
- Assist and provide cover for the monthly payroll and weekly employee expense claims
- Provide support for other members of the finance team
- Work alongside and support other colleagues around the organisation as and when required
- Assist the management accountant with month-end journals
- Able to achieve a 4 working day month-end deadline
- Support the management accountant with year-end information and liaise with external auditors
- Any other accounts-based work that is appropriate to this role that may arise from time to time

**The person specification**:

- Team player, who is confident, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and proactive.
- Possess a passion for delivering high-quality financial information with demonstratable skills in problem solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to suit your audience.
- Experience of using and maintaining specialist financial software and payroll related packages for data entry and manipulation.
- Proficient at working to a high degree of accuracy with effective keyboard inputting skills enabling effective inputting and retrieval of data.
- Enjoy project work and strive for continuous improvement with experience of leading on specific finance initiatives.
- High capability in the use of Microsoft 365 to communicate effectively using Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint & Teams.
- Possess a finance related qualification ideally AAT or equivalent.
- You will have the ability to drive and use of your own transport as there is an element of travel to different locations as and when required.

**Salary & benefits**:

- Salary on offer is £24,720 per annum
- Annual leave is 26 days rising to 30 after 4 years, plus bank holidays
