About the role:
The Design Manager is the leader of the Design team and function. Building and maintaining a team requiring technical skills in composite DFM (predominantly for tooling), the ability to problem solve at a high-level Designing optimised manufacturable solutions.The role ensures the team is trained to the required skill level and defines and adheres to auditable processes.
Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinating and managing all the design work, encouraging internal and external design teams (sub-contractors) to ensure the drawings and designs are produced on time, to a high quality, and are easy to interpret, manufacture and build.
- Management of design priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ownership, development, and maintenance of existing Design ISO9001, AS9100 and IATF16949 processes.
- Design of composite moulds, press tools and all other tooling including jigs & fixtures.
- Collaborate with the NPI and Continuous improvement team on the shop floor to develop tooling solutions to improve quality and productivity.
- Creation of GD&T engineering drawings for both parts and assemblies to support all manufacturing processes.
- Creation of bills-of-materials for both parts and assemblies to support all manufacturing processes.
- Providing technical information & support for sales, manufacturing, and inspection processes.
- Lead, motivate and develop the Design team through proactive planned on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes including objective setting and KPI's.
- Liaise closely with customers and colleagues regarding design activities, technical requirements, reviews, specifications and timescales.
- To rapidly integrate into the design, engineering & production teams.
Role Requirements:

- Qualified to UK degree/HND in design/mechanical engineering discipline, or engineering apprenticeship plus HND and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience working within the composites industry
- Strong working knowledge of Catia v5.
- Working knowledge of PDM/PLM systems.
