University Hospitals Plymouth is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) to join our team within Haematology section(s) of the Combined Laboratory.

Applicants must have good basic dexterity, numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE A - C or equivalent demonstrable knowledge /skills); technical aptitude, knowledge of Health and Safety Issues; basic IT skills; be able to work under pressure within a team and have an eye for detail.

You will be part of a team providing a valuable support function to our Diagnostic Service to deliver a safe effective service for its service users and the patient. You will be handling and processing patients' samples as part of the analytical process, with a particular role in the management of patient samples and results referred to hospital clinicians, general practitioners and external laboratories.

The successful applicant will be expected to take part in the Extended Working Day rotas for Evenings / weekends as appropriate, more information can be discussed at interview.

Proposed interview date = w/c 20th Feb 2023

**Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
