Finance Business Partners (FBP) act as a critical friend and provide robust advice to budget holders and senior leadership to maximise value for money, support robust decision making and ensure compliance with HMT guidance.

The FBP role is crucial to support the development and implementation of these proposals, support finance transformation, and ensure finance is embedded at the heart of decision making. You will be responsible for building strong relationships with the directorate Budget Holders and key stakeholders, understanding the business and policy areas they cover, explaining financial management processes, and providing advice to budget holders in a comprehensive and clear manner.

**Job description**:

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

- Developing an understanding of the business, its stakeholders and deliverables
- Building and maintaining relationships with budget holders.
- Providing financial advice on compliance with policy, standards, accountabilities and controls, and alignment with the principles of Managing Public Money.
- Translating, owning, and adding insight to financial data to provide clear information and evidence to support business activities and requirements.
- Work closely with the G7 to ensure accuracy of forecasts for income and budget are maintained, challenge and support budget holders to enhance decision-making and increase performance.
- Providing strategic financial guidance at appropriate level; including budget holder meetings, SLTs and Programme Boards.
- Reviewing, challenging, and providing input to business cases, ministerial submissions, strategic documentation.
- Challenging forecasts, identifying financial risks and opportunities, and supporting business planning and Spending Reviews.
- Providing relevant finance coaching and training to the business.
- Acting as a key liaison point between the Finance function and our customers across the department, particularly the Policy, Management Reporting, HR, other Arm’s. Length Bodies, and external organisations as necessary.
- Providing ad-hoc analysis to drive and support business decisions, such as multi-year efficiency and cost reduction options, using all available data and analytics tools.
