Sole Gardener

A Sole Gardener is sought to maintain and manage the gardens of a stunning private Estate in a beautiful part of the country in North Yorkshire.

The Estate sits on the site of an 11th century manor and is surrounded by landscaped gardens and a moat. The 1-acre formal gardens contain a vegetable garden, fruit garden, rose & peony garden, solardome greenhouse, herbaceous borders, extensive lawns, boxhedging, ornamental grasses with alliums and a wealth of climbing roses around the whole house.

Applicants should ideally have a minimum Level 2 horticultural qualification, PA1/PA6 spray certificates, combined with good plant knowledge. You will need to be organised, able to plan and prioritise your workload and work to a high standard. Experiencewith pruning and training roses and growing fruit and vegetables would be required for the role.

Other requirements for the role are good communications skills, you should be prepared to work outside in all weathers, be physically fit and have the ability to operate a range of garden machinery. Additionally, there is a herd of 22 alpacas on site, thereforesomeone who would be willing to help with occasional jobs such as bringing in for vet visits and feeding while the owner is away would be an advantage.

**SALARY**:£32,500 Pro Rata DOE - 4 days/week
