NHSBSP screening is not carried out by Breast Imaging at New Cross hospital

We are a small mammographic department that believes in supporting our staff in order for them to reach their full potential.

The post holder will work in the breast imaging department, undertaking Mammograms for Symptomatic, Surveillance and Assessment clinics and support the Advanced Practitioners, Consultant Practitioners and Consultant Radiologists.

The post holder will work flexibly to provide these services between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm, including weekends when necessary.

To ensure safe and effective clinical practice

To be familiar with and put into practice the Trusts vision and values.

To be familiar with and comply with all Trust and Radiology Directorate Policies, Procedures and Practices.

To practice radiation protection by fully complying comply with IRR99, IR(ME)R 2000 and all associated policies, procedures and protocols.

To undertake diagnostic imaging procedures, maintaining the highest possible standards.

To use equipment in a safe manner in accordance with operating instructions.

To promptly report any equipment failures to the Superintendent

To report accidents / untoward incidents / hazards to the Superintendent as soon as possible, ensuring completion of the Incident Report Form and accident book.

To enhance the patients’ experience

To be familiar with the principles of clinical governance and to strive to maintain and improve the quality of patient care, always showing courtesy and consideration.

To be always pleasant and professional ensuring that all communication with patients is clear and concise.

To ensure that a patient’s dignity and privacy are always maintained.

To assist patients throughout their stay in radiology wherever possible.

To wear the uniform provided and to always promote the Radiology Directorate in a positive manner.

To enhance the performance of the team

To work as a member of the team.

To work with and encourage all members of staff.

To participate in practical and theoretical training for Radiographers, and Radiographer Helpers.

To attend such courses / lectures / in service training as are required by the needs of the service and to demonstrate Continuous Professional Development.

To maintain high standards of work.
