**JOB SUMMARY**

Criterion Auctioneers Ltd is one of London's longest running weekly auction rooms, holding a full calendar of general online sales throughout the year from our Islington saleroom.

As part of a restructuring and planned ongoing expansion in to West London and the West Country, an opportunity has arisen to join our team to assist with the preparation of our weekly London sales of Art, Antiques and Collectables.

We are seeking an experienced, Valuer & Cataloguer with proven industry experience and wide general Art, Antiques & Collectables knowledge to join us on a full-time basis to catalogue a variety of items for our regular weekly sales.

Previous auction house experience is essential to the role, and any additional specialism will be welcomed.

**Role**

Having already worked in a similar position, you will be aware that the job role will include valuing items consigned for auction and cataloguing them accurately and speedily on a daily basis, whilst working in harmony with the saleroom photographers and sales staff managing the clients. From time to time it will include the preparation of condition reports, accurate administrative preparation and working as part of a team in creating and handling all online sales from preparing and uploading catalogues to managing.

**Hours of Work**

The working week for the company is 9am to 5.30pm weekdays and 10am to 6pm weekends. Cataloguing is not necessarily a full-time job and can be done remotely from home when required, however, the majority of the time the job will be based at our Islington saleroom and other London salerooms when required. The job's KPI's can be delivered through a flexible daily schedule to be agreed.

**Requirements**:

- Good “generalist” knowledge, ideally including Contemporary & Antique Furniture, Art, Prints, Ceramics, and Collectables.
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience within the auction industry.
- Good existing contacts within the antiques industry would be an advantage.
- Friendly, helpful, and professional manner.
- Effective communication skills (both with members of the public and colleagues).
- Ability to work well under pressure as part of a small team.
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with a high degree of attention to detail when proof reading your own work.
- Good IT skills including MS Office, Saleroom Toolbox and EasyLive Auctioneer.
- A clean driving license would be an advantage.
