Job summary To support and enhance the professional psychological care to children and their families who have a range of complex neurodevelopmental conditions as an Assistant Psychologist, contributing to the provision within the Child & Family Psychology Service (CFPS), which is a county wide specialist Clinical Psychology Service within Integrated Community Paediatric Services. Working according to an agreed plan, and under the clinical supervision of a Clinical Psychologist the postholder will be required to work flexibly across a range of clinical, community, and home-based settings. The postholder will assist the work of qualified Clinical Psychologists and other members of the therapy team to undertake individual and group assessments and therapeutic interventions. This will include cognitive assessments, school-based observations along with delivering elements of discrete psychological interventions, developing psycho-education resources and presenting workshops.

The service delivers a blended telehealth and face to face offer and the role will include undertaking telephone, face to face psychological screening, assessment and therapeutic interventions. Working independently to an appropriate level, the postholder will be responsible for managing and organising their own workload and is expected to engage with regular supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist and review through the management process. In addition, the postholder will support research activity including audit, service evaluation, literature reviews and research as required and assist in the continual development of care pathways and the use of outcome and clinical measures. The postholder will be based in Woodbridge Clinic, but the post will require travel across Suffolk and work within other clinics, educational and home settings where.

The postholder may be required to work with individuals who have experienced or may experience emotional distress and therefore a high degree of professionalism at all times must be maintained. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Job responsibilities KEY TASKS: Clinical To contribute to the assessment of children and young people through carrying out time-limited psychological assessment, including administering and scoring psychological measures, including neuropsychological, tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with children and young people, family members and others involved in the childrens care, under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a clients problems, under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society, The Health & Care Professions Council and Trust policies and procedures.

To contribute to the planning, organising and delivering of psychological packages of care, with other members of the psychology or multidisciplinary team. To plan and co-facilitate psychoeducation group therapy-based interventions either face to face or via telehealth for parents & carers alongside other members of the Psychology Service. To collate and create materials and organise resources (therapeutic books and equipment, written resources) for users of the service. To assist with the assessment of children presenting with queries of ASD, including assisting in the administering and scoring of psychological measures under supervision, as appropriate.

To contribute to the write up psychological reports following assessments under supervision of a qualified psychologist. To be able to collate and summarise any relevant information gathered, to support the process of assessment and diagnosis. Service evaluation, outcomes, audit and research To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes and produce service reports where appropriate, particularly in relation to outcome measurement. To contribute to the dissemination of information to the wider professional community.

To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist qualified clinical psychologists.
