**About the role**

The Registration Service plays a key role in the lives of our residents by registering life events and conducting legal and celebratory ceremonies.

We are a small department committed to delivering registration services in line with statutory requirements to the highest standard, providing customers with professional attention and a positive experience.

To maintain our excellent reputation, we are seeking to recruit a flexible and self-motivated individual to join our team of Casual Registration Officers. The post requires availability on weekdays to provide cover as and when needed.

You will be organised and have a confident manner in dealing respectfully and diplomatically with people at emotional times. It is important that you have the communication skills to explain complex rules and understand the importance of adhering to compliance and statutory requirements.

The role of a Deputy Registrar entails accurately recording birth, death and stillbirth registrations at our Register Office in Ampthill and our key locations across Central Bedfordshire. You will need to keep abreast of legislative changes ensuring your registrations are accurate and meet current statute and service standards.

Alongside registering life events you will produce copy certificates, be responsible for the safe custody of registers, and secure stock, and undertake a range of nominated tasks whilst deputising for the Registrar. It will also involve attesting notice of marriage and civil partnerships as a Deputy Superintendent Registrar.

To succeed in this role, you will need positive and flexible approach and be adept at working collaboratively. You’ll thrive in a fast paced, dynamic customer-facing role and need to be committed to delivering a sensitive, professional and efficient service at all times.
