Assistant Cook

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Cook to join our team at Rathmena House, Ballyclare.
**Duties**
- Assist in preparing and cooking meals for nursing home residents according to established recipes and dietary requirements.
- Work in coordination with the head cook or dietary manager to ensure meals are prepared and served on time.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation to meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
- Monitor food stock and inform the dietary manager of any ingredient shortages or quality issues.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is clean, in good working order, and report any malfunctions.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Assist in menu planning, special diets, and portion control as directed.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and dining services team to meet residents’ dining requirements.
- Assist with food service and the delivery of meals to residents when necessary.
- Participate in maintaining inventory and food cost control as needed.
**Essential Criteria**
- Previous experience as a cook or kitchen assistant, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home setting.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow dietary guidelines, recipes, and portion control requirements.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
**About Rathmena House**
Situated in the leafy suburbs of the market town of Ballyclare in East Antrim, the home is surrounded by attractive gardens and patio areas. The home is registered to offer nursing care and a small number of beds for residential care for up to 29 residents.
