Health and Safety Advisor

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with H&S regulations
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Provide safety training to employees on topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, accident reporting and personal protective equipment
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop preventive measures
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training activities
- Collaborate with management to develop and update emergency response plans
- Stay current on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to workplace safety
1. Shall monitor and update the Company Health and Safety Policy/Procedures Manuals.
2. Shall monitor compliance and be aware of new legislation, that may affect Health and Safety/Environment Policies applicable to the Company activities.
3. To advise upon implications of current and forthcoming legislation, and make recommendations as necessary. Act upon recommendations and implement requirements
4. Carry out risk assessments on new plant and equipment/process operations.
6. In conjunction with the relevant Personnel shall investigate and review accidents or damage to company property and recommend appropriate action, Using Health and Safety Corrective Action Form.
7. Shall advise the Company and action as required in response to points raised by Safety representatives/other employees or through hazard reports, inspections and other formal means of notification.
8. Shall maintain all necessary records specific to Health and Safety/Environment.
9. Report to and liaise with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in matters of reportable accidents and notifiable occurrences.
10. To monitor insurance claims on behalf of the company, in conjunction with the insurers, and maintain all relevant case files and records. Ensuring all information is filed in the appropriate personnel file, liaise with the Human Resource Manager.
11. To monitor that fire prevention procedures and systems are adequate; that all equipment is regularly checked and inspected; that fire drills are carried out in accordance with statutory requirements; in conjunction with the fire team. Minimum of two Fire Drills per annum.
12. Monitor and recommend suitable items of personal protective equipment (PPE), liaising with the Purchasing. Monitor usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per cell in order to improve performance of PPE supplied. And be responsible for controlling safety boots/protective overalls and overall lockers.
13. Arrange and Co-ordinate Annual Audiometric Tests
14. Arrange, attend and keep minutes of the Health and Safety Committee/Environmental team meeting.
15. Present Health and Safety Reports to Managing Director monthly.
16. Ensure that Health and Safety Contact System (Yellow Card) is used, leading by example.
17. Carry out TS16949/ISO14001 internal audits as per audit schedule.
18. Carry out shopfloor Audits twice daily and report on exceptions as per schedule.
19. Carry out Company Induction with Emphasis on Health and Safety. And Environment.
**Experience**:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety-related role
- Strong knowledge of regulations and other relevant safety standards
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Proficient in report writing and documentation skills
- First aid certification is preferred
