Animal behaviourist & trainer

**Salary**:

- Day rate to be discussed depending on experience and qualifications, starting at

£107.69.

Hours:

- Starting part time with the intention of increasing to full time as the business continues to grow.
- Opening hours are Monday - Thursday 10am-7pm, Friday’s 10am-6pm.

Must be:

- Fully qualified with a minimum level 5 (ideally 6)/ degree in animal behaviour
- Use only kind, reward based methods.
- Experienced working with dogs
- Experience working with customers/ clients
- Able to confidentially work alone with clients in their homes and other locations.
- Able to work alongside others, including other pet professionals
- Have a full UK driving license.
- Full time access to a suitable vehicle for use during work hours
- Have access to a computer/ laptop and the internet.
- Be confident in using Microsoft office.

Desirable/ Ideally be:

- Accredited/ certified
- Experienced with a range of animals
- First aid trained - animals & people

Requirements of the role:

- Be able to conduct behavioural assessments in person or via video call. Including identifying the cause of the behavioural problem and the steps needed to overcome the issues being faced.
- Provide thorough and detailed behavioural reports from the behavioural consults and on-going behaviour support sessions.
- Be able to identify a clients needs and requirements for animal training (owner and animal) and provide bespoke sessions to meet those needs and requirements.
- Be able to provide thorough and detailed animal training plans for clients.
- Be able to liaise comfortably with other pet professional’s such as vets, to provide a holistic solution for the animal and owner, including basic knowledge of medications for pain and anxiety as well as other treatments such as Reiki, T-Touch, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy etc.
- Be working towards accreditation if not accredited already.
- Maintain 40 hours of CPD - or amount stated by accrediting body.
- Only use kind reward based methods in all work.
- Be able to emotionally support the client through difficult decisions and problems.
- Work alone in a variety of locations with clients and their animals
- Travel to clients at their home or agreed locations.

We generally cover a radius of 2 hours drive from Shebbear (EX21 5SH) however regularly see ‘in person’ clients around the following areas: Barnstaple, Bideford, Torrington, Hatherleigh, Okehampton, Halwill Junction, Shebbear, Holwsworthy, Bude, Tavistock, Exeter, Tiverton (+all areas between these locations).
- Be able to physically and correctly handle dogs of all breeds
- Work from home to write the behaviour reports/ training plans and be happy to have regular contact with Liz Marden, owner and head behaviourist & trainer, to discuss clients, case updates etc. and to come to the office for meetings as required.

You will be required to sort your own tax.
