Newlands Care Home in Dunfermline are recruiting for a morning Care Assistant to join our team to work a rotational rota:

- **Week 1: Three mornings Monday to Friday, 7am till 1pm, rostered by Management**:

- **Week 2: Saturday and Sunday 7am till 1pm**
- **Please note, all applicants must be fluent in English, we do not participate in Visa sponsorship. All applicants must be 18+**_

Newlands Care Home offer an Induction programme, digital training, on site Moving and Handling training and a six week training programme with our experienced carers to ensure you can get to know our residents and create a fantastic rapport with each of them. Each member of staff will be supported by their Senior on shift and the Management Team.

The home runs 4 shifts over the course of the day. (Morning shift) 7/8am - 1pm, (Afternoon shift) 1pm - 6pm, (Back shift) 6pm - 10pm and (Night shift) 10pm - 8am. Please research transport links if you are relying on public transport, you will be asked about this at the interview.

Care assistants need to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all kinds of people, have the ability to gel as a team and also be able to work off their own initiative in situations which can be stressful or emotionally draining. More specifically they should have:

- A friendly approach and the ability to put residents at ease, whatever their physical or social needs
- The ability to be tactful, professional and sensitive at all times
- A good sense of humour
- Respect for the resident and their families
- A high level of patience as some residents do have challenging behaviour
- A good knowledge of basic health care and hygiene standards
- Excellent and adaptable communication skills
- The ability to deal with anxious residents
- A responsible and flexible attitude to residents and the job
- Manual dexterity and a certain level of physical strength
- The ability to stay calm under pressure
- A commitment to the job, the residents and their families
- The ability to think quickly and solve problems as they arise

All employees working in care must now be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of starting employment. You will be asked to register once you have successfully completed your probationary period and this must be kept up to date with an annual fee which you are responsible for paying for.

All care staff must be willing to work towards an SVQ2 or equivalent if they do not already have this qualification within 5 years of taking up this care post. Part funding, if eligible, through SAAS is available for completion of SVQ 2 and SVQ 3 qualifications.

We are offering an hourly rate of £10.90 dayshift and £ 11.20 for weekend shifts, further enhanced rates are available for evenings and nights, a company pension scheme, 5.6 weeks holiday a year, on demand pay scheme allowing you access to your wages as you earn them, subsidised private health insurance, paid breaks and the chance to work with a great team in a family run care home.

Interviews will be held over Zoom or in person within the home, with a member of the management team.
