Morris Ward is part of the Medical Division, Cardiac Surgery Directorate, caring for patient’s both pre and post Cardiac Surgery. We are based on NUH City Campus, within the Trent Cardiac Centre.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed Healthcare Assistants and will welcome any forward thinking, caring individuals who are committed to providing a high standard of safe quality patient care, in addition are keen to develop new knowledge and skills.

We offer a place on the HCA induction and support you to complete the National Care Certificate, as well as other opportunities to take part in learning and development.

Both full time and part time will be considered.

Main duties of the job

As you will be delivering hands on care to patients, we are looking for confident individuals who are able to deal with members of the public / patients as well as other members of the hospital multidisciplinary team’s.

You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure. Be able to work independently or as part of a team, prioritising and managing your own workload. Assisting the registered nurse with patient care, recording and documenting care given, reporting to senior nursing staff and/or medical staff any areas of concern.

You will be required to carry out a number of designated tasks, of which will involve direct care, in support of and under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
- Good basic level of secondary school education
- Willing to undertake NVQ level 2 in health care training
- Evidence of personal development in previous employment

Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 2 in healthcare
- Basic IT Skills

Experience

Essential criteria
- One year relevant work experience

Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in health or social care setting

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Physically able to perform duties
- Evidence of clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Good telephone skills
- Ability to pass on information accurately and understand the practices and principles of confidentiality

Desirable criteria
- Recognises own limitations and communicates these

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria
- Understand the importance of instructions and written procedures
- Able to gather simple clinical observations and report changes in a patient's condition
