Join us at Merton Council as we embark on an exciting journey of change and improvement. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Head of Waste & Street Environment, who will be pivotal in the effective management of Public Space services, specifically waste and street environment services, and environmental enforcement activities.

**About the role**

This key strategic role involves overseeing procurement, commissioning, management of contracts and leading partnerships, both internal and external. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing service improvement strategies, plans, and performance frameworks that support delivering our vision of Building a Better Merton together.

**About you**

You'll drive the South London Waste Partnership forward, delivering sound advice to senior colleagues, and ensuring our approach to waste and street environment issues is leading edge.

In this role, you will ensure robust performance management of Public Space environment teams and contracted services. You will be the driving force behind the use of asset data systems and implementing monitoring systems that adhere to statutory, best practice, and corporate requirements. With a sharp eye for cost-effectiveness, you will adopt a commercial approach to all services, ensuring due diligence is applied. Managing budgets and driving value for money from contractors is at the heart of this role, alongside developing and implementing savings plans in accordance with corporate targets.
