**Post**: Variable Hours Lecturer in BSL (British Sign Language)

**Job Summary**: The Variable Hours Lecturer in BSL will facilitate the learning of students in scheduled classes and undertake related professional duties to support the British Sign Language programme.

**Main Duties**
- Teach scheduled classes as assigned, delivering engaging and effective instruction in British Sign Language.
- Develop and maintain schemes of work, ensuring alignment with curriculum requirements and student learning outcomes.
- Contribute learning materials and assignments to the collective learning resources of the Corporation, enhancing the BSL programme's educational offerings.
- Conduct detailed assessments of student progress and maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with assessment and reporting requirements.
- Manage student attendance records, mark registers, and fulfill registration requirements in accordance with College policies.
- Participate in the Corporation's quality assurance procedures, contributing to the ongoing improvement of the BSL programmes.
- Provide actionable feedback to students, contribute to their action planning, and prepare interim and end-of-year reports as needed.
- Engage in course and curriculum development activities essential for enhancing BSL teaching and learning.
- Take responsibility for health and safety, equal opportunities, and data protection within the scope of the post, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

The postholder can be required to work at any site on which the College may operate and to carry out any other duties consistent with the grade of the post.

Variable Hours Lecturers will not normally be required to carry out the following duties:
Market research

Promotional activity

Interviewing prospective students

Course Managership (s)

Liaison with external agencies

Organise student work experience

If any of these duties are required of particular lecturers additional payment will be agreed at the time.

The person specification for the Variable Hours Lecturer job reflects the relatively narrow range of duties required of a Variable Hours Lecturer. Accordingly the range of criteria is different from those applicable to a Lecturer employed on a full-time or fractional basis.
