Principal Planner

Fareham, United Kingdom Fareham Borough Council Full time

**About The Role**:
The Partnership for South Hampshire (PfSH) is looking for a principal planner for a period of 12 months to support local authorities by providing a strategic environmental planning resource. This is a PfSH role hosted and managed by Fareham Borough Council.

PfSH is a public sector partnership, with this role working on behalf of multiple local authorities across the Solent area. The role will primarily deliver an assessment of the supply and demand of nutrient mitigation and biodiversity net gain units across South Hampshire.

Your role as a principal planner will focus on evidence gathering between local authorities and providers of environmental services and formally reporting this information to relevant local authorities. This role will also include direct engagement with land owners and provision of technical advice, as such an understanding of policy and legislation related to nutrients and biodiversity net gain is essential.

Your role will also involve commissioning consultants to undertake technical assessments and applicants should have some experience of independently managing consultants.

**About You**:
You will need to be comfortable dealing with a range of different partners, from local authorities, to farmers, to government bodies. You will need the ability to manage competing demands on your time, as well as have good understanding of commercial principles.

This is your opportunity to play your part in shaping the future of south Hampshire - so we’ll welcome your fresh ideas and innovative spirit.

**About Us**:
We aim to attract, develop and retain the very best people to carry out the work required. In return, you would be joining a well managed Council. We offer a great pension scheme, authorised parking, flexible working and a car lease scheme to name a few of the benefits of working for us. We take pride in receiving feedback from others who say we are a friendly and professional organisation.
