You will be working within the 3rd line IT Infrastructure team and will be primarily focused on the management and troubleshooting of the core server\storage platforms and data centres. You will also provide technical input into strategy and respond to cyber security events.

You will support the Digital & Health Informatics directorate by providing expert technical leadership, quality support, management and advice across a range of technologies. You will have responsibility for management and deployment of the underlying IT hardware which provides a platform for clinical systems across Royal Preston Hospital, Chorley District Hospital and remote users. This will involve working on all aspects of the Trusts infrastructure including
- Server Virtualisation platforms
- Data centre storage systems
- Enterprise backup systems
- Identity and access management
- Cyber Security

You will lead in liaising with system providers in regards to upgrades and migrations. You will be expected to work closely with other technical teams and operational staff and varying divisions and departments.

It isessentialthat you are flexible and can display high levels of initiative, together with the ability to work under pressure as an individual, or as part of a team, and undertake your duties with minimum supervision. As a good communicator you will be able to engage with peers, suppliers, technical experts and IT users across the healthcare environment.

To provide expert technical leadership, quality support, management and advice across a range of technologies
- Maintain and develop working relationships with stakeholders, project staff, software suppliers, IT professionals, lead clinicians and other relevant Trust personnel.
- To maintain and manage existing Cyber security systems, servers, client devices hardware and their associated software in conjunction with the Technical specialists within the Technical services department.
- Provide verbal and written reports in relation to complex IT Incidents or Problems and to communicate any known Problems, issues or implications.
- Manage & escalate appropriately any IM&T issues or trends that are liable to have an impact on the department meeting its objectives or providing its services in the future.
- Manage detailed IM&T requirements, communicate available options and solutions, assist in the establishment of timescales to meet user, department and supplier expectations and contribute to building a professional and positive impression of the organisation.
- To maintain communications with other NHS IM&T departments, external service support suppliers and contractors in order to specify complex IM&T requirements, provide solutions, resolve Incidents and Problems, monitor service level agreements and/or improve best practice.
- Provide & manage detailed input into the formal acceptance test stage of an IM&T project to ensure that the testing meets the requirements as denoted in the formal signed business/functional specifications.
- Development and modification of IT and/or business information systems in line with requirements.
- Provide advice and assistance to all levels of staff regarding known IM&T strategies and current technologies relating to all aspects of project life cycles.
- Prepare detailed specifications including fully documented work flows for existing systems and potential systems.
- Undertake business processing re-engineering projects to revise working practices and procedures based on business needs, information governance requirements and Trust policies and protocols.
- Adhere to the approved Standard Operating Procedures used in the Department and Trust.
