**Waste Operative - Facilities Management - Filton, Bristol**

My client is one of the UK’s leading maintenance service providers, currently seeking a waste operative to join an expanding across an estate of commercial buildings, ranging from Grade 1 Heritage Buildings to Brand new facilities, joining a modern and forward thinking business operating throughout Bristol.

**Waste Operative Job Description**:
As a Waste Operative, you will play a vital role in the proper management and disposal of waste materials. Your responsibilities will include collecting, sorting, and disposing of various types of waste in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner. You will ensure that waste is handled safely and in compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Waste Collection: Collect waste from designated areas such as households, commercial establishments, and industrial sites. Operate collection vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Sorting and Segregation: Sort different types of waste materials, including recyclables, hazardous waste, and general waste. Ensure that materials are properly segregated for recycling or disposal according to regulations and guidelines.
- Recycling: Promote recycling initiatives by separating recyclable materials from general waste and ensuring they are sent to appropriate recycling facilities. Educate the public or colleagues on proper recycling practices.
- Waste Disposal: Dispose of non-recyclable waste in accordance with local regulations and company policies. Use designated disposal sites or facilities, such as landfills or incinerators, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of waste collection vehicles, machinery, and equipment. Report any issues or defects to the relevant authorities for repair or replacement.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety protocols to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and follow safe working practices at all times.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of waste collection activities, including the volume and types of waste collected, recycling rates, and disposal methods used. Complete necessary paperwork and documentation as per organizational requirements.
- Environmental Compliance: Stay informed about relevant environmental regulations and guidelines governing waste management practices. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and participate in environmental audits or inspections as needed.

**Waste Operative Details and Benefits**:

- Monday-Friday | 07:00-16:00
- Government Minimum Wage Hourly Rate
- 25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays
