We are looking for an experienced expert in market and commercial issues related to renewable and low carbon power generation. You would join our UK Energy Consulting Services team, based at one of our UK or European offices.

Our fast-growing Energy Consulting Services team is part of our global network of c.1,200 Energy and Power professionals who work collaboratively to help our clients address the challenges and take forward the opportunities in the Energy Transition. We work with leading international energy companies (power generation, oil and gas, transmission & distribution), large energy consumers (IT, Aviation, Transport, Industrial & Manufacturing), and government/ public sector. We are currently hiring a Principal Consultant for Renewable & Low Carbon Power Generation - Market & Commercial Advisor (UK).

**Primary responsibilities**

You would work collaboratively with the renewable energy, thermal energy, hydrogen/ power-to-x and wider Energy Consulting Services teams in the UK and globally. You would work with energy, large energy user and public sector clients, providing leadership on market, commercial and regulatory issues related to increasing the deployment of renewable and low carbon power generation projects.

**Typical tasks would include**
- Strategic, regulatory and market advice related to investment in/ increased use of renewable energy and low carbon power generation
- Business case development and cost analysis
- Financial feasibility studies
- Commercial, economic and market due diligence
- Funding proposals assessment
- Advice on securing investment or finance
- Advice on the commercial aspects of Capacity contracts, Ancillary service contracts, Corporate and utility Power Purchase Agreements, fuel purchase agreements, Energy sharing/purchasing Agreements and Asset Management Agreements
- Advise on commercial risk profiles
- Manage entire consulting projects or significant workstreams within a larger project
- Manage project resources and progress against the project plan
- Support business development activities and proposal preparation to win work
- Develop and nurture low carbon power generation skills within Jacobs
- Build strong long-lasting relationships (with clients and internally)
- Actively engage in Jacobs’ global communities of practice (COP) of relevance to renewable and low carbon power generation technologies and the wider Energy Transition
- Extend skills and experience through working on a wide range of Energy Transition projects (e.g. reliable and flexible power generation, behind the meter solutions hydrogen, power-to-x, CCUS and Net Zero hubs) as and when required.

- 5-10 years’ work experience focused on the commercial/market aspects of low carbon power generation (in the energy, consulting, or finance sectors)
- Minimum qualification is a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or economics. A post-graduate degree, especially an MBA, is a plus
- Strong understanding of value drivers for power asset investors/large power consumers.
- Understanding of wholesale regulated and un-regulated power markets, wholesale fuel markets, regulation, financial subsidies of relevance to the development/ financing of low carbon power projects, gained in the UK market (additional knowledge of Irish, Continental European, and Nordic markets a plus)
- Experience of the commercial, contract, and business structure for low carbon power
- A passion for the energy transition, and a growth/ problem-solver mindset
- Strength in presenting recommendations and conclusions to clients and stakeholders
- Good social and networking skills
- Ability to prepare effective and well written reports and proposals
