Summary We’re looking for a Carpenter with traditional carpentry skills. What it's like to work here This is an opportunity to join the Specialist Crafts team delivering conservation Carpentry work across the South West. The post will be based out of Lanhydrock. Through delivery of conservationrepairs, the team help to look after our most significant and historic buildings. The existing team consists of conservation Joiners, Carpenters, Stonemasons, and two Apprentices, and work throughout Cornwall and the South West. What you'll be doing As a Carpenteryou’ll assist with projects on site and the day-to-day conservation repairs on our In-hand properties. You’ll undertake traditional Carpentry tasks which will include Conservation repairs to joinery on site, such as windows, doors, floorboards, gates etc andall elements of timber work. Other works may include roofing, traditional lath ceiling works and fitting new joinery where required.
Being able to assist with other trades is also a key point to working in a small team. To do this all successfully, you’ll need to be proficient in all traditional hand/power tools and traditional materials and work in a good safe and professional manner. Partof our work is also to engage with our members and visitors. This can include talking to visitors and showing them the conservation work that’s being carried out. This often improves the visitors’ experience at the property.**
**Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert.** Who we're looking for A great teammate with traditional Carpentry skills, self-motivated to produce work to a high standard, and with a passion for heritage conservation work. We’d loveto hear from you if you have:

- Practical traditional Carpentry skills
- Experience of working on heritage/conservation projects
- Good people skills enabling positive relationships with internal and external customers
- Familiarity with the use of machinery / equipment and practical certificates as required (see role profile for specifics)
- Demonstrate a willingness to undertake additional training offered by the National Trust to maintain and increase skills
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and Compliance requirements
- Capable of passing on and demonstrating good work practices and sound knowledge
