An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate and trained gardener to join a small team on a large privately-owned estate between Cambridge and Norwich. The gardens are open to the public between mid February and November and are maintained to a high standard throughout the year. This position would suit a qualified and knowledgeable gardener who can work in a team

The gardens extend to about 17 acres and have been developed over the course of the last 80 years by two generations of the family who moved here in 1946. The gardens comprise a series of themed areas spanning from herbaceous island beds originally created as trial beds for the new introductions made by the family owned nurseries, ponds, an internationally renowned winter garden, a North American wood, a fragrant garden, to a fine collection of mature trees and shrubs.

Assistant Head Gardener in day-to-day garden maintenance including digging, planting, dividing perennials, weeding and pruning.
- Assist with the ongoing development of the Gardens
- Be able to work alone, or as part of a team and direct other gardeners or volunteers
- Be able to use and maintain machinery for grass cutting, strimming, and edge cutting
- Safe use of knapsack sprayer for herbicide (PA1 and PA6 qualifications desirable)

Job type: Full-time, 39 hours

Start date: May 2023

Although the position is predominantly based on a 39-hour working week, flexibility is required to cover weekends and Bank Holidays as required for the purposes of watering and special events.

**Salary**: £12,000.00-£18,000.00 per year
