It is essential that you have the confidence that you can deal with conflict routinely and with detainees that are upset, angry, violent or just don't like you. You will have experience in diffusing situations, have a positive approach, demonstrate empathy, compassion, and the ability to be firm but fair. A sense of humour is definitely a strength in this role

You will complete a comprehensive training programme including aspects of the law, conflict management, food preparation, first aid and also how to take fingerprints and DNA samples.

Policing is a 24/7 operation - so, this role operates a shift pattern that is 24/7. Whilst you will be based at one of the Custody Centres (Guildford, Staines or Salfords) you may also be required to work at any one of the Centres.
