**The Role - Cook in Charge 23 ¼ hr per week
- The rate of pay will also increase from April 2024**

Pinnacle Group is looking for a **Cook in Charge **to join our amazing catering team at **Kippax Ash Tree Primary School **To provide and deliver a high standard of school meals and to meet the mandatory Nutritional Standards on behalf of Pinnacle Group.

**Duties/Key Responsibilities**

The successful applicant will possess a proven track record within a school kitchen and hold a relevant professional qualification. You will need to work safely in a hygienic environment. Good communication, enthusiasm and good organisation will be key for this role.
- To be able to demonstrate a high standard of food preparation, cooking and food service whilst working to a strict timescale.
- Provide a healthy balanced school meal which is compliant with School Foods Standards.
- To delegate and supervise a team of catering assistants in the provision of the daily school meal service.
- Good and sound understanding of safe food handling and food safety legislation would be an advantage, however full training will be provided.
- High standards of hygiene in all areas are a necessity to the role.
- Have a sound understanding of food safety (HACCP) Safe System at Work.
- Experience in food ordering / stock controls and month end reporting.
- Develop relationships with school (Headteacher / School Staff) when working on site.
- Ensure that all cleaning is carried out to the high standards required by legislation and company policy.
- Understanding of working to budgets.
- Ensure Health and Safety and food hygiene procedures are adhered to at all times and that defects to equipment and premises are reported appropriately to maintain a safe working environment.
- Carry out regular checks of kitchen equipment e.g., mixers, fryer, utensils, work surfaces in accordance with specified procedures to ensure all equipment is hygienic and safe working order and complies with relevant regulations. Notify THE Catering Manager if equipment is not working or is faulty
- Ensure the security of the kitchen and storerooms is maintained at all times to provide a safe working environment.
- Attend Cook In Charge meetings as arranged by the Catering Manager and any out-of-hours training, school events and training days are required.
- Good communication with the Catering Coordinator and Catering Manager.
- To have a level-headed approach to working under pressure in a busy catering environment. Making quick decisions when and where necessary to ensure full service is delivered in any eventuality.
- To be able to train and monitor new staff induction training and the completion of all annual tool-box talks

**Skills Required**:

- Hold a relevant professional catering qualification.
- Be able to demonstrate administrative and line management competencies within a similar catering environment
- IT proficiency
- Flexible approach to working.
- To be able to work at a fast pace.
- Moving of SICO tables or putting out tables and chairs when setting up the hall for lunch service.
- To have a pleasant demeanour and understanding of current child safeguarding practices.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and C.O.S.H.H. compliance.
