The Pathology Clinical Trials team at North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Services (NMCPS) are seeking a medical laboratory assistant (MLA) to support both office based and laboratory based activities for the clinical trials service. These activities range from clerical duties such as diary management, communication with Trust R&D/I departments and other pathology services to laboratory duties such as aliquoting and preparing samples for transportation to referral laboratories. All training will be provided,

To support the day-to-day running of the Clinical Trials laboratory, with the support of the Clinical Trials Associate Practitioner and the Quality Operational Support Manager for Clinical Trials.

To perform a number of laboratory procedures/ activities including but not limited to:

- To receive, sort, store and prioritise test requests.
- Prepare samples for referral to other laboratories according to departmental SOPs and current postal regulations.
- Dispose of specimens, documentation and general waste appropriately according to confidentiality, health and safety requirements and departmental SOPs.
- Appropriately use and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with SOPs
- Performs general housekeeping activities to maintain a clean and safe working environment

Communicates information (this may include test results where departmental policies allow) to clinicians and other colleagues ensuring that this is understood and transcribed correctly and record appropriately
